Hive Video Optimization improve the viewing experience, using predictive CDN pre-fetching technology with patented software-only, zero-configuration algorithms. Data are distributed via P2P, balancing bandwidth load across all connected employee computers, and maximizing reach and quality of live and on-demand video for the entire organization.

How it works

 

  • When users begin viewing video, Hive technology automatically detects the optimal path to video content

  • Viewers on the same network share, between each other, the video stream rather than downloading individual streams, significantly reducing Internet ingress traffic

  • Stream content is shared on the internal network among devices via a dynamic, self-learning P2P mesh network

  • The customer can choose to have their viewers benefit from Hive Streaming eCDN via modern web browsers (no additional software installation needed) or install the Hive VX Agent to support more advanced use cases, including support for legacy web browsers and site-specific requirements.

  • Silent Testing is supported with both options the Hive VX Web Client or the Hive VX Agent.

  • Hive-supported devices (Hive VX Web Client or Hive VX Agent) connect to hosted cloud-based web services for authentication, connection setup & reporting

Browser-based video distribution with Hive VX Web Client

Hive VX Web Client is Hive Streaming‘s advanced browser-based video distribution technology.

 

  • No installation required, get started quickly

  • Support for live and VOD

  • Works with all modern HTML5 browsers

  • Works in combination with the Hive VX Agent (see section below)

  • Supports low latency streaming that have been tested & certified with our technology.

  • Is 100% compatiable with mobile devices

  • Is suitable for any “Modern Workplace” environment

  • WebRTC uses SRTP for encryption and we add AES 256 GCM which is a highly desired benefit in Wifi networks

Hive VX Agent

The Hive VX Agent, an optional installed software, enables more advanced use cases, including features such as fast peer discovery, persistent logs, custom network configurations and support for non-WebRTC compliant browsers.  

 

  • Compatible to be deployed via a standard software deployment tools like SCCM or Intune

  • Runs unobtrusively in the background, consuming only minimum CPU resources

  • The Hive VX Agent uses WebRTC as transportation protocol making it compatible to work together with the Hive VX Web Client giving the customer the possibility to work with a mix deployment but keeping peering unified.

  • Can however support non-WebRTC compliant browsers (Requirement: Installed Hive VX Agent, it does not work with the Hive VX Web Client)

  • Resolving mDNS addresses into IPv4 to always enabling site matching and peering between subnets

  • The Agent is a java application and all Java libraries needed are included already in the installer and therefore no JRE / Java environments will be needed.
