Understanding View-Based Licensing (VBL)

Hive Streaming’s pricing is based on the total number of views. A View Based License (VBL) is activated when a Hive enabled video is viewed beginning with the first second. The video session can be paused for up to 30 minutes, after which a new VBL will be activated. If the user switches devices while viewing a video, a new VBL is activated.

Customers purchase a yearly bucket of VBLs. As VBLs are activated, they will be deducted from the bucket. If a bucket is fully used, an automatic overage charge will be applicable and additional VBLs will be priced at 150% of the contracted price. Customers who have fully used their buckets have the right to re-enter a new 12-month contract.

The minimum contract Service Term commitment is 12 months, and Hive Streaming bills for its services on an annual basis with payment due at the beginning of each annual period.

The base price per view is based on HIVE Analytics. Customers may then layer additional features (at additional cost) - including:

  • HIVE Video Delivery & Optimization

  • Hive VI

  • Silent Testing and Event Monitoring Bundles

  • Etc.
